What an amazing stay at Hostel Mangalem! I was in Berat for just one night and the location couldn't have been more perfect. Situated in the historic Mangalem neighborhood, it was close to everything I needed, including the bus stop, restaurants, and the castle. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they even prepared a delicious Turkish coffee for me upon arrival. The breakfast spread was outstanding, with a variety of fresh ingredients like tomato, cucumber, cheese, and homemade jam. The room was spacious and comfortable, with great amenities like AC and lockers for storage. a truly unforgettable experience!
I highly recommend this hotel.

Berti shared his knowledge of the area and the history of Albania, and even took us on a tour of the Berat castle. the breakfast was delicious, and the location couldn't have been better, close to the city bus station. the house itself had an old-style charm, adding to the overall experience. I felt really comfortable and at home during my stay. Cons: Nothing to complain about at all! 🙌.

This hostel is perfectly located right in the center of everything. It's just a short walk to the Berat castle, where the host, Berti, actually grew up. There are also very good restaurants nearby, where we had one of the better meals in Albania. the room was a nice size and had working air conditioning, which was a relief in the hot weather. the breakfast included Turkish coffee, warm milk, bread and jam, and even a hardboiled egg. the view from the terrace was also amazing.
There was constantly stagnant water on the floor, which made it really wet and uncomfortable.

I had an amazing time staying at this cozy family-run hostel. the father, despite having limited English, was incredibly sweet and welcoming. It truly felt like being a guest in their home. the location was perfect, right in the old part of town and close to a great selection of restaurants. the room was clean and provided great value for money. the owner was very helpful, offering advice and even a free tour to the castle every day. I also enjoyed the breakfast prepared by the caring hands of the mother-son pair. a wonderful experience for those keeping on a budget.
Felt lucky, no complaints whatsoever.
